When a house page becomes a home page.
Since our premier a few weeks ago, I’ve never really been all that into the home page of this site. It just didn’t do much other than tell you who this block association is for and give you a place to put your email address. The problem was, however, that like all things cooking and design-related, I am better at recognizing when something is good rather than making it into something that is good.
And so naturally I went about trying to find some sites that I could recognize as good, and I came across a few that you should probably check out including an online Chelsea newspaper called Chelsea Community News and a neighborhood blog in DC called PoPville.
One major difference between those sites and this one is that they continually update their front pages with new information.
So I think we should start updating the front page with some bite-sized information. You’ll see on the front page now that I’ve kicked this off with two little posts about things I like, Hudson Market and the “Brick House” sculpture, but ideally this wouldn’t just be me writing. So if there is something that you like in the neighborhood or that deserves mention—a restaurant, a gallery, a coffee shop, a dog—write a few sentences about it and send in a picture and then probably just consider yourself completely done with work for the day.
Also, thanks to those who have shared this website on Facebook, etc. Our advertising budget is currently equivalent to my checking account and so any help I can get in getting the word out is much appreciated.
Have a good weekend.
