Laminated flyers & the secret to happiness
I think the secret to happiness may very well be lowering your expectations. And so now that I’ve lowered the block’s expectations with handwritten flyers, I’ve created some laminated flyers that I’m going to continue posting around.
Don’t think that these flyers are any less personal than the handwritten ones—the FedEx guy at 34th & 8th and I had to individually slide each of these into lamination sandwiches and then feed them through a pressing machine. I thought they came out pretty good, but the initial reviews were less than positive. Upon trying to post the first plastic flyer at the 507 West Chelsea side entrance, a neighbor who is likely stressed about going back to work after a three-day weekend admonished me for posting bills without permission and in a zone that is not clearly marked for billing. So I took my new bill over to the 28th and 10th corner, where I have already posted a bunch of old bills. Less marginal returns in that spot but also less resistance. Neighbor, you are still invited to the first Zoom session and the post-pandemic block party.
More to come.
