Happy Sunday, everyone. I mean that somewhat aspirationally because I’m a big believer that Sundays are vastly overrated. Sure it’s a day off, but if you’re the anxious type and your mind has a mind of its own, fully half the day off can get spent worrying about the next day on! And then that day on shows up and it isn’t even that bad. Somewhere in there is a lesson, but I’m not going to spend my day off figuring out what it is.

Anyway, neighbors, we’ve got two really exciting (and free) ideas for you on the horizon that should carry you into the week:

  1. We* have planned a gallery tour of the High Line Nine gallery—which is the art gallery next to Il Piccolo on 28th & 10th—for next Wednesday, September 29th, at 7pm. You can read about the gallery here and here. The tour will be with the director of the gallery and one of the artists in residence. This will be very casual and wine will be in attendance. The group will have to be small, so write me back relatively quickly if you have interest in attending.

    • *By “we” I mean block resident Brady Noé Arellano. You may recall Brady as the creative force behind the visual renderings of our community garden that took the block by storm back in May. He’s also designed the sign that we’re going to try to put on the corner of 29th Street & 10th Avenue (see image above).

  2. We’re considering having a movie night at a private movie theater that on our block. Friends, I have seen the theater, and let me assure you that this is what you’re missing your life. We’ll get to pick the movie and we’re thinking it should be an NYC classic like When Harry Met Sally or something. The theater can probably hold about 15 people and there will likely be a mask + vax requirement. Write me back if you think you’d be interested.

As a final note, some of you will recall that a few weeks ago, I sent out an email asking whether anyone would be interested in helping me run this block association. One person responded, and that person was Brady Noé Arellano. So I’ve appointed him VP and you’ll probably see his name in your inbox with some frequency going forward.
